Who are Jehovah’s Witnesses?

Jehovah’s Witnesses are a worldwide religious organization. We worship Jehovah, the Creator and Almighty God (Psalm 83:18; Revelation 4:11). We are Christians and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior (John 3:16; Acts 4:10-12). We base our beliefs solely on the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16). We invite you to learn more about our beliefs by exploring this website along with your own copy of the Bible.

Dear Seafarer

We would like to begin this letter by expressing our respect and appreciation for the work you do. We understand that spending long periods at sea, far from family and loved ones, is not always easy. The Bible recognizes how important family is. It says: “Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their hard work. For if one of them falls, the other can help his partner get up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10). This reminds us of the value of family support and love. However, when work keeps us away from home, staying on course in life is not always simple. You have likely experienced how important it is to trust navigation instruments. Even when the destination is not visible, those instruments show the right direction and help ensure a safe arrival. The Bible can be like that reliable guide in our life. Psalm 119:105 says: “Your word is a lamp to my foot, and a light for my path.” Its guidance can help us make good decisions, strengthen our marriages, and keep our families united, even when we are far away. You may have seen how a lighthouse illuminates the coast at night or in the fog. That light does not move the ship, but it shows the safe way. Similarly, Bible principles can guide us and help us stay on the right course in life. Many seafarers have found comfort and hope in God’s promise for the future. The Bible speaks of a time when people will enjoy a peaceful and secure life with their loved ones. Isaiah 32:18 says: “My people will dwell in a peaceful place, in secure residences and in quiet resting-places.” If you would like to find more thoughts like these, we warmly invite you to visit jw.org.
